The modern sports card hobby just gained a massive boost of star power.
CardVault by Tom Brady, the rapidly expanding retail chain dedicated to trading cards, sports memorabilia, and live-streaming box breaks, announced a powerhouse strategic investor group aimed at accelerating its national footprint.
Leading the high-profile lineup of new backers are heavyweights from sports, entertainment, and business—most notably New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge, music mogul Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, and UFC CEO Dana White.
The strategic backing marks a major milestone for the luxury card store chain, which has transformed from a niche regional operation into a dominant player in the sports collectibles market.

From 3 to 100+ Locations: The CardVault Story
Tom Brady initially acquired a 50% stake in CardVault in February 2025, joining forces with co-founders Ed Kane, Randy Greenstein, Chris Costa, Tim Bonito, and Scott Heigelmann. Since the seven-time Super Bowl champion stepped into his ownership role, the company has grown aggressively—expanding from just 3 locations to 17 brick-and-mortar stores nationwide.
With fresh capital from its new investor group, CardVault plans to build out a network of over 100 flagship retail destinations.
CardVault Growth Roadmap:
[Feb 2025: 3 Stores] ➔ [Current: 17 Stores] ➔ [Target: 100+ Stores & Automated Kiosks]
Besides physical locations, the funding will fuel:
- Automated Retail & Kiosks: Bringing interactive card-dispensing technology to high-traffic sports venues.
- CardVault Breaks Expansion: Scaling their real-time, live-streamed unboxing and community shopping platforms.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Strengthening supply chains, technology stacks, and operational capacity to meet surging demand.

Redefining the Modern Hobby Shop

Historically, local card shops were simple storefronts built around local hobbyists. CardVault is reimagining that formula into high-end, experiential retail destinations.
Featuring vault-style layout aesthetics, authentication services through grading giants like PSA, SGC, Beckett, and CGC, and official products from Topps, Panini, and Upper Deck, CardVault aims to serve both first-time collectors and serious investors.
“Collecting today is about much more than owning a card,” Brady stated in the release. “It’s about the stories, the memories, and the community that brings fans together… The caliber of this investor group reflects the opportunity we see to grow collecting into an even bigger part of sports culture.”
With sports card market valuations remaining near historic highs and new high-profile figures entering the fray, CardVault’s ambitious push into national retail shows no signs of slowing down.
